Last time in our “Bracketology” series, we covered caps and crosses, both of which hold a sign directly at the top of a post. In this entry, we’ll cover wing brackets, which are used to install street name signs or traffic signs at a right angle to a signpost or traffic pole. In the same way that a wing sticks out from a building, plane, or bird; wing brackets attach to the side of an object for horizontal display.

#800 Metro Wing Bracket

Hall Signs offers several types of wing brackets:

#800 Metro Wing Bracket

  • 24” long horizontal wing arm style bracket for flat or extruded street name signs.
    • Can also be used with traffic signs–position one bracket at the top and one at the bottom of the sign for additional stability.
  • Set screws tighten down the sign at three contact points in the slot, so that no holes need to be drilled.
  • Attaches to post with stainless steel banding; can also be bolted in if holes have been pre-drilled into the mounting surface.

#8 Metro Wing Bracket

  • 16” long horizontal wing arm style bracket for flat or extruded street name signs.
    • Can also be used with traffic signs–position one bracket at the top and one at the bottom of the sign for additional stability.
  • Set screws tighten down the sign at two contact points in the slot, so that no holes need to be drilled.
  • Attaches to post with stainless steel banding; can also be bolted in if holes have been pre-drilled into the mounting surface.

#4 Wing Bracket

  • Vertical wing bracket designed for wall or post mount; attaches to post with stainless steel banding.
  • Works with flat or extruded street name signs. Set screws hold the sign in the bracket at two contact points.
  • We like this bracket for mounting double-sided 911 Address signs to mailbox posts since it offers visibility from multiple angles.

K-Series Bracket

  • Post mount only for extruded street name signs; attaches to post with stainless steel banding.
  • Available in 6”, 6 ¾”, and 9” standard sizes to match standard extruded sign heights; custom sizes available upon request.
  • The sign fits into the bracket from either end, and must be punched with holes so that bolts can be inserted through the bracket, into the sign, and through the other side of the bracket.

Bell Wing Brackets

  • Mounts one traffic sign on a round post or utility pole; uses stainless steel banding. Ideal for double-sided signs, or signs mounted on utility poles at intersections.
  • 12”, 18”, and 24” lengths available to accommodate a variety of traffic signs; custom lengths available upon request.
  • Custom hole punch to match up with bracket bolt holes is required.
